Bestselling author Jane Green brings readers a story of love, loss and renewal in Second Chance. When four childhood friends reunite over the loss of one of their own, they find their friendships rekindled after almost 20 years apart. Through the loss of their friend, Tom, they each begin to see their lives anew.

For Holly, that means awakening to what her marriage has become and making some tough decisions about what her future holds. Another one of the friends, Saffron, comes face-to-face with the addiction that has haunted her. Paul, the lone male of the group, must learn to support his wife as they deal with the pain of infertility. And for Olivia, it means meeting up with a former co-worker of Tom’s - a meeting that Tom had arranged prior to his death; a meeting that will change both of their lives forever.

Green weaves these four stories of heartache and triumph together as each of her characters finds a second chance at happiness. Readers will find this book has a more serious tone than her previous novels, such as Swapping Lives and The Other Woman. However, Green mingles wit and charm amidst the hurting for a story that will touch the reader.

I thoroughly enjoyed Second Chance. It caused me to take a closer look at my marriage and friendships to determine if I take them for granted. The ending was realistic and filled with hope, leaving me anxious to read Green’s next novel.
