Blessed Assurance, by Lyn Cote, is the title of one book containing three novels: Whispers of Love, Lost In His Love, and Echoes of Mercy. These three novels tie together the threads of three generations of one family, learning to lean on Love.

In Whispers of Love, widowed by the civil war, Jessie is making ends meet in Chicago. Though, keen on progress, Chicago is slow to release racial prejudice. As Jessie keeps her boarding house in order, balancing home life for her son is unsettled when a stranger enters their life. Her nine-year-old son quickly befriends, Lee. Will Jessie’s heart ever love again?

In Lost In His Love, Jessie’s son, Linc, has left Chicago and settled in San Francisco. Inheriting his mother’s concern for social justice, Linc begins writing his own paper, exposing the social ills of San Francisco. A beautiful debutante, lost in the social scene, has captured Linc’s interest. Can Linc’s love for her save her from certain disaster?

In Echoes of Mercy, Linc’s daughter, Meg, leaves San Francisco to fight social injustice in New Orleans. Danger awaits Meg at every corner, as does Gabriel St. Clair. Meg is a modern day women…a twenties’ flapper…her bobbed hair causes quite a stir in old-fashioned New Orleans. Gabriel St. Clair is an old-fashioned Southern gentleman. Somehow the two are drawn together. Sparks fly and passions ignited. How will this Yankee and Southerner ever get together?

In Blessed Assurance, the Wagstaff family endures many trials: The Great Chicago Fire, the 1906 San Francisco earthquake, and Prohibition. Through each of these trials, the family’s faith grew stronger as they learned of the Love that saves them all. Crossing three generations, Blessed Assurance confronts real social issues, showing how Love is the answer for every social issue. Fans of historical fiction will enjoy Blessed Assurance.
