Review: In The Shadow of Lions

I love Ginger Garrett and actually had the chance to interview her not long ago (listen here). Her newest novel, In The Shadow of Lions, is a little bit of a departure from her other novels in that she writes about two women  whose lives intertwine. Anne Boleyn, whose life has recently been portrayed on the big screen in the movie, The Other Boleyn Girl, is one of this books main characters. We have the chance to see her from another side – that of her faith and how she uses her influence with King Henry to change the history of the church in England.

The other woman, Rose, is a broken woman who finds safety and security in the home of Thomas More when she is employed as his children’s governess. As she see Thomas More’s faith lived out in the form of charity and kindness, she’s drawn to the Lord. When she discovers a secret book that More is bent on destroying, she must make a most difficult choice.

This same book weaves itself through history and readers get to see how it affects the lives of these women and many throughout the centuries.
