A Bride’s Portrait of Dodge City, Kansas, by Erica VetschPrepare to immerse yourself in the romance, adventure, and mystery of the wild west town of Dodge City, Kansas in this first full-length romance by veteran Heartsong Romance author, Erica Vetsch.

Adeline Reid, having just arrived in Kansas, must deal with the grief of her beloved uncle’s passing while trying to make a go of a new photography studio in a less than hospitable town. Miles Carr, a fresh new face in the local sheriff’s department is prepared to leave his past behind him. His future with the pretty photographer could be over before it even has a chance, however, when a slick “railroad” man arrives in town holding the key to both Addie’s and Miles’s scandal ridden past.

With hearts full of faith and determined spirits, Adeline and Miles try to keep their heads in a rough ‘n tough town where violence and vice are prevalent. During a Fourth of July celebration everything seems to collapse around them. The murder of a successful resident, a robbery, and a ransacking of Addie’s shop leave the town wondering who will be the next victim? Special cameos by legendary Bat Masterson and a few other famous faces lend to the authentic historic feel of this quaint tale.

From the first laugh-out-loud page to the picture perfect ending, A Bride’s City Portrait of Dodge City, Kansas, is an A+ read. Fans of both westerns and romances will be well pleased. The characters are likable, the romance is sweet, and the mystery will have you guessing until the end. Not only do we see a romance unfold for Adeline but her friend, Fran, as well.  So, if you’re searching for a double dose of heart fluttering, look no further! The hunky lawmen, Miles and Jonas, definitely could give Marshal Matt Dillon a run for his money. ;-) Ms. Vetsch has earned a spot on my keeper shelf with this book. Barbour is going to have a real hit on their hands with this series of small-town set romances if this story is any indication. I highly recommend it.

Rated: PG-13 Some violence that may scare younger readers.

Adeline Reid is my grandmother’s name. Her family moved to Kansas when she was a young girl. Very interesting.

I’m reading A Bride’s Portrait now and am enjoying the story. I came to the 4th of July scenes last night and stayed up reading way too late. I had to force myself to put the book down and am eager to devour more chapters tonight.
