The thought of losing her once more terrifies him, but convincing her to stay would mean placing his heart on the line for someone with a track record of crushing it.
Dani Pettrey’s debut novel, Submerged, is a beautiful story of love, redemption, and second chances. Words fall short to describe how much I enjoyed this book. I immediately fell in love with the characters and was drawn into their world. The McKenna siblings are the epitome of a tight-knit, loving and fun family and readers will find themselves wishing they could be a part. The teasing and banter often had me in stitches. Cole and Bailey are great main characters. Cole pursues Bailey the way every girl hopes to be pursued. That being said it was Landon and Piper (Cole’s best friend and sister) who became my favorites in a cast full of lovable characters. I am really hoping the next book in the series is about them.
Pettrey’s description of Yancey was breathtaking and made me wish I could spend some time there. I probably wouldn’t recommend this novel to younger readers due to some mature issues. That being said, it is very clean and an older teen shouldn’t have a problem. I strongly recommend Submerged to romance and suspense fans and am now anxiously awaiting the second installment in the Alaskan Courage Series.
Rated PG: For some mature issues, but the author handles them in a very clean and appropriate way.
