Nate Garrison returns to Starfish Bay hoping to rid himself of the horrific visions he gained from being an investigative reporter on the frontlines in Afghanistan. He lived in Starfish Bay for a few months when he was 11 years old and is hoping to run into Lindsey Collier, a childhood friend who made an impression on his life and his heart.
Lindsey returned to Starfish Bay three years ago after her husband died and her dad, Jack, broke his hip and needed her help. Helping Jack run the local mercantile and tutoring children after school, Lindsey has carved out a nice and neat, safe life for herself – or so she thinks. When Nate walks back into her life, she hardly remembers him at first, but before long, he’s worked his way into her life and her heart.
Both haunted by painful pasts, Nate and Lindsey realize not only how much they need each other, but also their God who they’ve doubted for far too long. Discovering a love for one another, they see that God has a bigger plan beyond what can be seen right in front of them.
I enjoyed this book. Love Inspired romances are great summer reads and Irene Hannon has done a nice job of writing relatable characters with real life problems. It was nice to see Nate and Lindsey’s relationship grow from a childhood friendship into an adult love and appreciation for one another.
