YA Review: Jesus Heals the Sick

Jesus Heals the Sick by Crystal BowmanJesus Heals the Sick by Crystal Bowman

Genre: Christian Childrens’ Book
Publisher: ZonderKids
Publication Date: 2012

Jesus Heals the Sick is based on the different miracles Jesus did for the sick in the Bible, like when Jesus healed the little girl or when he made the blind man see. My favorite was when Jesus healed the woman who touched the hem of his robe.

The main character is Jesus, who is the Son of God, sent to die for our sins on the cross, so that we might be saved. The story includes all the people who had faith that Jesus was going to heal them. Jesus Heals the Sick also shares the stories of many who knew others who were ill and went to Jesus to get him to heal someone they cared about.

Crystal Bowman did a great job at telling the story in a way kids would understand it. Zondervan did a nice job at illustrating the book. The pictures are very colorful and will draw the attention of little children.

This book is definitely good for kids 1 to 8 years old, and for adults to read to the younger children who can’t read. I also want to thank Zondervans for including a wonderful Bible coloring book called “Super-Duper Mighty Jumbo Coloring Book” from the “Beginner’s Bible Series“. It was full of wonderful large pictures of Bible stories for children to color. I love the book it’s great for my 2 year old nephew or my 8 year old niece. They will love coloring in it with me, and I will enjoy telling them the Bible stories from each picture.

Rated G: Great for all children, and for adults to read to younger children.

Review copy provided by the publisher. Thank you!

Jklyn is a young teen who lives with her mom and dad in Indiana. She is the youngest of seven siblings, which includes 4 older sisters and 2 older brothers. Jklyn loves all her homeschool subjects, but especially spelling, writing, reading, science, and music. She loves attending church, reading, writing, singing, acting, and spending time with her friends. However, Jklyn’s favorite thing above all is spending time and playing with her favorite family member, her pet, Lady, a Beagle/Basset Hound mix dog.

When she grows up, Jklyn dreams of being an actress, fashion designer, veterinarian, and a professional book reviewer. Her favorite day of the week is Monday, when she attends Homeschool Choir at her church, helps watch the toddlers and babies for moms who help the Choir Teacher, and gets to do P.E. with all her friends. Jklyn’s excitement over reading a new book is sure to pour out in her reviews.
