Introducing featured indie author Susan Gontarek

This month we’re featuring some of our favorite indie authors to showcase some writing that you may not be able to find in your local bookstores. These authors go it alone, doing all of their own publishing, marketing and everything in between. We hope you’ll enjoy this month’s posts introducing you to each of them and our interviews with them.

Today we’d like to introduce you to Susan Gontarek, author of Finding Grace in the Mirror.

A little about Susan:

susanSusan has spent the majority of life struggling with her self image. After three decades as a hair stylist she has learned many of life’s greatest lessons from the women who have shared their reflections with her in the salon. After a long battle to control her ADHD she finally found contentment by embracing the way God designed her. She knows first hand the tranforming power of God’s Word.

Her authentic and open approach helps women to see themselves through God’s eyes and to accept His grace. She spent the first half of her life helping women look good on the outside. Now she is convinced satisfaction comes when there is balance of both inside and outside, found in God’s grace and truth.

Susan has spoken at a variety of venues in the United States, Portugal and Germany. Her topics include: Self Image, Victory in Marriage, The Armor of God, Intimacy and Sex.

She served as Women’s Ministry Director at LifeSpring Church in Bellevue Nebraska and as Vice President of Spiritual Life on the board of Protestant Woman of the Chapel. Her passions are knowing God and sharing God’s Word through Bible study, mentoring, and everyday opportunities.

She has experienced the grace of God and found victory in her life through many trials: the death of her father, restoration of her marriage, financial devastation, a house fire, husband’s job loss, multiple moves, a prodigal son and a daughter with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, all while learning to embrace the blessings and find joy in her own ADHD.

Susan is married to Kevin, her husband of 20 years, and has two children.

A little about her book:

susan-bookAre we ever satisfied with what we see in the mirror?

Hairdresser and women’s ministry leader Susan Gontarek shares anecdotes from the hair salon and her personal struggles with self-image to help us realize that what we see in the mirror has little to do with the physical reality and much to do with what is happening inside our heads.

She spent the first half of her life helping women look good on the outside and she is convinced that satisfaction comes only when we learn to accept God’s grace and truth about who we are on the inside. By using the hair salon as a modern day parable you will receive daily reminders of the biblical principles of truth and grace.

And those glimpses in the mirror will provide unforgettable images of God’s great love for you, his perfect masterpiece.
