Michael Hunt is a dead man. For the last 8 months his family has believed the report of his death while undercover but now, cover blown and severely beaten, he is staring death in the face and he’s pretty sure there’s no way out this time.

Into his pain fog walk Olivia Hamilton and her younger brother, Ivan. Ivan, who is deaf but reads lips, has witnessed the murder of Michael’s partner and by using his lip-reading gift has realized that Michael will be next if he and Olivia don’t somehow rescue him. Olivia and Ivan formulate a plan to get them all off the island they are currently living on and manage to escape the guards in the process but somehow, every time they stop to catch their breath, the thugs on their trail manage to find them. Further complicating matters is the fact that the person who wants Michael dead the most is Olivia and Ivan’s father, the crime lord Michael was working undercover for. To make matters even worse, Michael knows they can’t go to the police because someone in the department is dirty and already sacrificed his cover, labeling HIM a dirty cop in the process.

Can they stay one step ahead of the killers and manage to expose the network of crime riddling their city?

This book was a nail-biter from the first page and didn’t let down on the suspense until the very end! Just when the reader starts to relax, a new threat steps in to send Michael, Olivia and Ivan on another run for their lives. This was an awesome read!

Rated PG: Although this is a clean read, the stressful situations are probably more than young children should be reading.
