igniteI loved Sara Larson’s Defy, the first book in this series and have been eagerly awaiting for the release of Ignite. It didn’t disappoint.

In Defy, we meet Alexa and her twin brother Marcel, who have both trained and made in onto the Prince’s Guard. However, in order to be in the military Alexa has been disguised as ALEX and living as a boy for the past 3 years. Through a series of events, Prince Damian, Alex and another guard are captured. Alexa must find a way to keep her identity secret and rescue the prince.

In Ignite, we pick up right where Defy left off. Prince Damian is now aware (quite aware, mind you) that Alexa is a girl and they are still fighting for a free Antion, the country Damian is now king over. Peace is far from them, however, as enemies keep crowding in from all sides. Can Alexa and Damian find a way to work together to bring peace to the land? Or will they lose their hearts in the process?

Rating: PG-13 A fun, action-packed story perfect for readers 13+.
