I don’t watch The Bachelor or The Bachelorette. That said, I have seen enough of the show to have some idea of the shenanigans that are insinuated to go on behind closed doors. The Engagement Plot takes that show premise and drops a Christian good girl in the middle of it. Hanna chose to try out for “The Price of Love” but, after viewing the previous season, really didn’t expect to be picked. Her values and virtue are way too sweet, boring, and straight laced for what she imagines handsome bachelor, Will Preston, will want. When he actually chooses her, she is ecstatic. Could he possibly feel for her what she is beginning to feel for him?

This book was a joy to read. The humor plucked my funny bone repeatedly while driving home the truths of God’s grace and His love for those he calls chosen. Fans of The Bachelor will see themselves in the camera wielding, fan letter – writing , stalkers that want a glimpse into the lives of their idols. The Engagement Plot shows what can happen when a few misspoken words destroy a reputation. Is there any way to get back what they’ve lost? Will and Hanna will keep you flipping pages to find out! I definitely recommend, but, be warned: don’t expect to get much else accomplished until you finish. You won’t want to put it down!

Rated PG: There was some sexual heat here but the characters kept a pretty close rein on things.
