Larry loves his job at the Spring Valley Mall. He’s the “Head Elf” during the Christmas holidays and every day he listens to requests from kids about what they want under their tree. There’s a lot of those. Some of those requests even require two scrolls! If I were Larry, I’d get tired really quickly. I mean really, one trip to the store with all three of my kids tires me out these days with the “Mom look!” and “I want” chants. But Larry truly does enjoy listening to these kids.

This year, one request touches Larry’s heart more than any other. Christina hasn’t asked for anything for herself. She just wants to help her friend Mrs. Crespie. This declaration from the young girl kicks Larry’s most creative instincts into high gear. Anyone who has experienced Larry’s plans previously knows what this means. Every light bulb, firework, tinsel and decoration he can find is going to find a higher purpose.

With its trademark humor, silly songs and shorts, Merry Larry and crew bring the true meaning of Christmas back to the forefront. The themes here aren’t new. We see them nearly every year. But the way that Veggie Tales brings them to our favorite little people is fun, uniquely presented and heart tugging all at once.

There’s a special addition in this one that completely delighted my kids too. Si Robertson of Duck Dynasty makes a special appearance as Silas the Narrator. He’s got his “hey hey” and “that’s a fact Jack” all through his telling of our story and his inclusion ups the entertainment value significantly. For our family, this one felt like Veggie Tales on steroids. It was fantastic. There were lots of little hidden themes and extras hidden in the background of the story. In fact, make sure that you listen to the lyrics to Si’s song. You won’t want to miss what he’s saying!

This one earned a place in our family favorites holiday collection. We’ll be adding it to our traditions each year. Highly recommend it for every member of the family!

Rated G: Nothing to worry about anywhere in here!
